The Plateaux is a spatial principle and architectural form that anchors my envisioned world, New Gynæa. It is not merely a physical base, but a conceptual plane—a sanctuary beyond the liminal. Copied from a 16th-century architectural drawing by Jan Wredeman de Vries, The Plateauxhas evolved through various media in my practice. In its contemporary form, it rises within New Gynæaas a platform where past, present, and future coexist. It is simultaneously ancient and futuristic, offering a stage where we can re-encounter our strength—and bring fractured parts of ourselves back into unity
The goddesses—The Wrestlers, The Hunters, Diadumene, and Rán—stand upon The Plateaux. These sculptures are not static relics, but avatars: timeless embodiments of feminine archetypes waiting to be activated. Their presence on The Plateauxis not incidental. The structure amplifies their power and symbolically lifts them above erasure—above the ground that once buried their stories. Here, they are re-elevated and re-contextualized within a mythic, feminist topography.
The Plateaux also function as energetic nodes within the synthetic jungle of New Gynæa—a landscape that is both lush and digital, wild and encoded. If New Gynæa is a timeless forest of feminine potential, The Plateaux is its altar, threshold, and transmission point. It allows us to commune with the goddess figures not as distant myths, but as living memories and future possibilities. Through painting, sculpture, and immersive space, I use The Plateaux to collapse linear time into a perpetual now. It is within this extra-liminal plane that new myths are seeded, or more precisely, remembered.
